Shetland is spectacular all year round - but there is something particularly special about the islands during mid-summer.
In mid-June the evenings stretch on until midnight – giving you plenty of time to enjoy the stunning surroundings and the special energy that all that daylight brings.
This period of almost perpetual light is known locally as the “simmer dim” – when the sun barely dips below the horizon as sunset turns into sunrise.
It makes summer a magical time to explore the isles and see Shetland in a different light.
You can enjoy wonderful views with a soundtrack of amazing birdsong and crashing waves. And as the sun does briefly set you can watch the skies come alive with colour.
There is always room to breathe in Shetland but in mid-summer there is even more opportunity to make the most of that.
Plan your trip to explore the islands.
