The Whalsay Heritage and Community Centre is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting the heritage and traditions of Whalsay. Established in 2006, the organisation has continued to grow and expand.

Alongside its permanent exhibitions, the centre hosts seasonal displays and community events each year, fostering an appreciation of Whalsay’s culture and heritage. Its goal is to provide visitors with an enriching, engaging, and educational experience.

The centre features two permanent exhibitions: ‘Whalsay’s Fishing Heritage from the 13th Century to Modern Times’ and ‘The Lairds of Whalsay’. The seasonal exhibition for 2022 focuses on lace knitting.
