Cunningsburgh is a crofting community, a summer patchwork of hay meadows, cultivated land and a carpet of wild flowers, set around a sheltered sea inlet. There are rewarding walks right on the doorstep, but it’s easy to explore the south mainland from here. Lerwick is just fifteen minutes’ drive away. The best example of a broch, on the nearby island of Mousa, can be reached by ferry. The site, adjacent to the marina, has excellent facilities.
