The Hereema Marine deepwater construction vessel Thialf has been in Lerwick Harbour this week for a crew change and minor repairs, following work on BP's Clair Ridge Project.
Thialf (see Wikipedia) has two cranes with a combined maximum lifting capacity of 14,200 metric tons, making it the largest capacity crane vessel in the world. However, it has lower height lifting capabilities than its competitor Saipem 7000 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saipem_7000 - which has lifting capability of 14,000 tonnes at 42 meters; Thialf can lift 14,200 tonnes at 31.2 meters.
